Republic Commandos

These minifigs were made by request. I've never actually played the game Star Wars: Republic Commando, because it came out after the time when my interest in Star Wars began to wane due to the Prequels (around the release of Episode II). So you'll have to pardon me if I get some information wrong or if I took a few artistic liberties with the character designs.

The Clone Commandos. From left to right, they are: RC-1207 ("Delta 07" or "Sev"), RC-1138 ("Delta 38" or "Boss"), RC-1140 ("Delta 40" or "Fixer"), and RC-1262 ("Delta 62" or "Scorch"). Or at least these are their names according to Wikipedia. I wouldn't know. Exactly how clones of the same person who are all raised and trained in the same facility come out with different names, voices, and personalities is beyond me. That's one of the unanswered "mysteries" of Star Wars, I suppose.

The main difference you'll notice from their appearances in the game is that they look more like traditional Clone Troopers, with the belts of gear, stomach details, and fins on top of their helmets. I think it makes them look more like "if the Clone Commandos had been in the movies, this is what they might have looked like." The game itself has a somewhat different art style than the movies - it's darker and grittier (which is better), but the characters are more pumped-up and out of proportion (which is not better, but I guess that's what you can expect from a "Star Wars" game that has a song by a punk rock band at the end). Mainly, they have big, broad shoulders and immense, fat guns, kind of like Warhammer 40K versions of regular Clone Troopers. Although I lost the fat shoulders, I did use the huge "pistols" from the Batman sets for the guns to keep the fat weapons look... even though I don't really like it. Eh, whatever. *shrug* The blue visors would probably have been better accomplished with trans-light-blue heads, but since I couldn't find any...

One notable difference I did keep was the backpacks. I'm not sure what the big tube things are on top of the grey (Scorch? Fixer? Something...) guy's backpack are, but they're there in all the picturesI saw. So yeah.

Well, that's it for the Clone Commandos. I actually had more fun making them than I thought I would... I guess if I was still 8 to 13 years old, I might like these silly Clone Trooper guys too. Maybe.
