Most of these were first posted in October 2001. I was greatly
enjoying the new Star Wars strategy game, Galactic Battlegrounds. It was
basically like a dream game for me, since Age of Empires II was already
my favorite strategy game of all time (and remains so to this day), and
Galactic Battlegrounds (GBG) is basically just a Star Wars re-skin of
AOE2. Since I nearly always play as the Galactic Empire, and since I
always pick red as my color, here are my LEGO Imperial Walkers,
red-highlighted GBG style...

When you first build your Mech Factory building, the cheapest mech
you can make is the Strike Mech, which is a "Light AT-PT" for the
Imperials. The Light AT-PT is the smallest walker in all of Star Wars...
although, to be fair, it was never in Star Wars until GBG made it up. I
love the way the LEGO turned out; so small and simple. I actually made
instructions for this model a while back, but they're gone now. It's
easy enough to figure out anyway.

Upon upgrading your Strike Mech at the Mech Factory, your Light AT-PTs
turn into regular AT-PTs. The AT-PT (All Terrain Personal Transport) is
a bit more recognizable to veteran Star Wars fans. I built it a few
months prior to the release of GBG, and it was already a part of EU
before that (in various books and in games such as Rogue Squadron).
Supposedly it was a civilian walker that the Empire converted for
military use. Lightly armored and armed with only a pair of blaster
cannons, it's useless against any enemy except infantry... even in
Galactic Battlegrounds. Here is the red GBG version...

The Mech Destroyer unit for the Galactic Empire is the Light AT-ST,
shown above. It's a very peculiar design, since it actually looks almost
a bit larger than the standard AT-ST. My LEGO version is, as you can
see, an extremely simplistic piece of junk.

Upon upgrading to Heavy Mech Destroyer, you get the standard AT-ST
(All-Terrain Scout Transport) made famous by its large role in Return of
the Jedi. This unit is the best walker in the entire game for mech
skirmishes, and it can take down any enemy mech unit with ease. For more
detailed images and description of my LEGO AT-ST, see it on
its own page here.
