NOTE: All creations and commentary here are by my sister Maegan (Werewolf
on the forums).
Sometimes people email me thinking I made her stuff, so she has branded
them in impossible-to-miss lettering here. I think it gets the point
across...

Customized minifigs of the Enterprise crew from the 2009 film Star Trek
(AKA Star Trek XI).

"Either we're going down... or they are."
Here's James T. Kirk from Star Trek (2009) in the outfit he wore through
most of the movie. He's sitting in the only thing that's built so far of
my Enterprise bridge: the captain's chair. He has a chest decal and a face
decal. His hairpiece is a customized version of what is apparently the new
standard male LEGO hair. I cut off the two droopy pieces hanging over his
eyebrows and gave it about four or five coats of paint because I could
never be satisfied with it... thankfully, I *think* I finally am. First I
started trying to just make it light brown, but that didn't look good, so
I added another coat of light brown. That looked way too light, so I
painted it brown. Then I wanted the lighterblonde color that his hair
partially is, but I still wanted it to look mostly brown, so I took the
brush and lightly highlighted it from the top, going down the sides.

"The only emotion I wish to convey is gratitude. Thank you, ministers...
live long and prosper."
I know that exact quote doesn't fit with his current outfit, but that was
probably my favorite line by him. Anyway, this is Spock, obviously, in his
standard Starfleet Science uniform. He has a chest decal, a face decal,
and wrist decals. He has a customized bowl-cut hairpiece that I shaved
down in the front to look neater, and I cut it at the sides to give more
of a sideburns and pointy-ears look (Scorp helped me a lot with cutting
and shaving it). Originally I was going to just be lazy and use a standard
male hairpiece, until I saw one of these and then decided they're no use
except for Spock anyway.

Kirk: "I'm coming with you."
Spock: "I would cite regulation, but I know you would simply ignore it."
Kirk: "See? We are getting to know each other."
Here's the famous duo, Kirk and Spock. When I first heard of the new Star
Trek movie, I'll be honest with you: I thought I'd hate it and that they'd
ruin Star Trek. When I saw it, though, I was blown away. Now it's one of
my favorite movies. I liked it so much that I went to see it three times
in normal theaters and once in IMAX (incredible, by the way – I highly
recommend trying to go see it in IMAX before it gets taken out)... a very,
very rare occurence for me. Heh.
I tried my best to make Kirk's face decal look like Chris Pine, but it's
hard to work with a LEGO face. Luckily Spock is easier, with his unique
eyebrows and lack of emotion, whether he's being played by Zachary Quinto
or Leonard Nimoy.

Here's Kirk and Spock with their customized hairpieces more visible.

Kirk: "Who is that pointy-eared *******?"
Bones: "I don't know... but I like him."
Again wrong outfits for that line, but I really loved the way Chris Pine
said it and the irony of the whole thing. So here's Kirk, Spock, and
Bones, the trio of Star Trek. I basically really liked the entire
Enterprise crew in the new movie, especially Chris Pine as Kirk and Karl
Urban as Bones. I always did like Karl Urban in Lord of the Rings, anyway,
though. I think he did an outstanding job - and those two actors made Kirk
and Bones my two favorite characters of the new series (hopefully there'll
be a new series of films - I have my fingers crossed for at least three
great movies). Although, as you probably expected, Kirk is definitely my
favorite. Star Trek made me a huge Chris Pine fan.

Bones: "Dammit, Jim! Stand still!"
[Bones jabs a needle in Kirk's neck for the third time] Kirk: "ACK! *Stoppat!*"
I have to admit I loved the scenes of Bones incessantly sticking Kirk in
the neck with various needles... of course, a lightsaber hilt is really
quite large to represent Bones's needle, and LEGO minifig's don't have
much of a neck, so it's kind of hard to do here. But you get the idea.

Spock: "Thank you, Nyota."
Kirk: [after Uhura leaves] "So her first name's Nyota?"
Spock: [curtly] "I have no comment on the matter."
As much as I wasn't fond of Uhura being a figure of any kind of romantic
interest to Kirk or Spock, I have to admit I really did love the scene of
Kirk, Spock, and Uhura in the transporter room near the end of the
movie... the looks Kirk gave Uhura and Spock were totally priceless and
cannot be described with words. Anyway, here's Uhura standing rather
unfocused in the foreground with Kirk and Spock giving each other the
shifty eyes behind her. Uhura, played by Zoë Saldana, sports a face decal,
a chest decal, leg decals, and feet decals there to represent the female
outfits... I would've made a skirt, but it was proving a bit complicated.
Maybe I'll make one later, though, when I make more minifigs.

Here's Sulu and Chekov, the two characters at the ship's helm. Unlike the
rest of the crew, Chekov doesn't have a face decal. And also unlike the
rest of the crew, Chekov (played by Anton Yelchin) has no markings of rank
on his shirt cuffs. I gave him some decals there anyway, though, because
somehow he looked bland without them. I very much liked John Cho as Sulu -
I think he did a great job. He's another of my favorite characters in the
new Star Trek.

"I've never beamed three people from two targets onto one pad before!"
Here's Scotty, played by Simon Pegg. As much as I like Simon Pegg
(although I've only seen him in Mission: Impossible III, another of my
favorite films), I didn't really think he fit as Scotty. I tried to make a
good face decal for him, but I'm still not satisfied with it... ah well.
His hairpiece is my John McClane hairpiece, since it was the only thing I
could make or find that fit very well.

"Your father was captain of a starship for twelve minutes. He saved eight
hundred lives, including your mother's... and yours. I dare you to do
better."
Here's Captain Christopher Pike, played by Bruce Greenwood, who also gave
a great performance. As much as I wanted to give him greyish sideburns, I
couldn’t get it to look right at all, so he ended up with a solid brown
hairpiece.

Here's Spock in the Captain's chair. I felt the need to take a picture of
this, somehow, since I liked the scenes were Spock was Acting Captain.
Then again I liked the whole movie, so that's not really surprising. Heh.

"Out of the chair..."

Here's another picture, this one with Bones, Pike, and Sulu.

Every minifig has its own back decal, too. Here's the varieties.

Here's James T. Kirk again, now as Captain. The ending of that movie
really made me want another...

And finally, here's a shot of the whole crew of the Enterprise.
I hope you like the ‘figs! Thanks for looking. Expect LOTS more Star Trek
minifigs and (completed) models at a later date, including (but not
limited to) the fight on the drill (with Kirk, Sulu, and Olsen in their
space suits), Nero and the Romulans, the characters in their Starfleet
Academy uniforms, Spock Prime and Kirk with a possible ice cave diorama,
and much more.
Be sure to check out my other Star Trek creations.
"Space... the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship
Enterprise. Her ongoing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek
out new life-forms and new civilizations; to boldly go where no one has
gone... before."
