The
characters of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots in LEGO minifig
form.
The minifig creations and comments on this page are by my brother,
Ryan C. Stebbins.

Shown above is the now-ancient-looking
Solid Snake in black and blue versions of his new sneaking suit from
MGS4. Since the game hasn't been released yet (as of early 2007), I had
to make these customs using only the various screenshots and videos that
have been released as reference. Early footage shows Snake in a
bluish-colored suit, but more recent footage shows him in a black suit.
So I decided to just make decals of both. Especially since it has been
shown that, in the game, Snake will be able to change the color/pattern
design of his suit in order to blend in with his surroundings.

I made the hairpiece on this minifig by
massively customizing a "Qui-Gon Jinn" hairpiece, which involved cutting
and sanding down sections of it, as well as painting it entirely white.
The pistol Snake is holding is made from a cut-up rifle from the LEGO
western sets, with a shaved-down LEGO cylinder on the end serving as a
suppressor.

Meryl Silverburgh rejoins the MGS series in
MGS4, now as a member or possible leader of the "new" FOXHOUND. Judging
from game screenshots, she still has her faithful Magnum Research Desert
Eagle .50AE pistol with her. Ahhh, such an utterly awesome gun.
Many consider it to be rather un-tactical, but it certainly has
stopping power. Anyway, I guess we'll have to wait and see if she will
reprise her role as Snake's love interest... A somewhat unsettling idea
considering his rapid aging that has apparently occurred.

It seems that nothing can keep Revolver
Ocelot down... Or Liquid Snake, for that matter, whose mind still seems to
be fused with - or, has now perhaps even taken complete control of -
Ocelot's body via his transplanted arm. Pretty stupid, I know.

It took me a while to figure out a good way to make his trench coat. I
guess it worked out all right, although it required quite a bit of
decal-cutting. Nothing a little patience and precision can't handle,
though... Basically what I did was leave the backing on the decal paper
for the bottom part of the coat, so that it would hang down without
getting stuck to anything. You can also accomplish this by covering the
back of the decal paper with a cut-out of regular paper or something
similar. I used the same technique for Otacon's coat (shown below in the
last section of images).

Raiden is back, unfortunately. Now he's some
kind of bizarre, kick-ass, ninja-thing that wears high-heels (no joke). I
doubted that it was possible after MGS2, but it appears that in MGS4 he
will be weirder, more disgusting, and more annoying than ever before. Some
people really like him now though. If you do, here's your minifig.

I originally wasn't going to make any arm
decals for Snake, but after I made some for Raiden I just couldn't let his
minifig be more detailed than Snake's.

Shown in the above image is Dr. Hal "Otacon"
Emmerich, who will once again be reprising his role as Snake's friend and
ally. He's one of the few characters besides Snake that has been in all of
the "Metal Gear Solid" installments of the Metal Gear series (excluding
MGS3).

Shown next is Roy Campbell, former colonel
and original commander of special operations unit FOXHOUND. An old friend
of Snake's, it seems that Campbell will once again be helping Snake in his
new mission(s).

And finally, here is Naomi Hunter, who
previously "helped" Snake during his mission to Shadow Moses island in the
original Metal Gear Solid.
