MGS1 Characters

These were possibly my first custom minifigs ever. I got the idea of using decals from some Star Wars creations I had seen online, and I thought it was a great concept, so I just carried it over to video games. This was the result.

The character information on this page is from one of the zillion strategy guides that came out for the original Metal Gear Solid.

My LEGO Snake's head is from an old Rock Raiders set. I was trying to avoid using face decals when I made him, so I just selected the pre-existing head that matched him best. Since this one had a blue bandanna, it was the obvious choice, although I had to cut off the front of his hairpiece to ensure the headband remained visible. His pistol is made from a standard LEGO rifle with the butt cut off and the barrel cut short. The suppressor on the end is a simple LEGO Technic pin.

Liquid Snake's hair is actually Qui-Gon Jinn's from the old Star Wars Episode 1 sets. It's quite a useful piece and I end up using it on a lot of my minifigs. In this case I painted it a blondish color. The trench coat he's wearing was made by taking the arms off of a LEGO torso, cutting arm-holes into a regular brown LEGO cape, and then sticking the arms through the holes and reattaching them to the torso. Works swell, I think.

Ocelot's hair is the same as Liquid's only painted white and with one of the pig-tails on the side cut off. His trenchcoat is also made in the same fashion.
