The first video game I ever based any of my LEGO creations on was Metal
Gear Solid. The first gaming console I ever owned was a PlayStation, and
the best game for that platform is unquestionably MGS, a sheer
masterpiece of gaming. Although the sequels can't quite match up to the
original, they too are great games. My brother Ryan was always the
bigger MGS fan of the two of us, so he helped considerably with these
MOCs, and some of them are actually his creations. These are
marked with his name in blue. Jump to:

January 2004: One day I
got an e-mail one day with the subject "Hello from Konami!". It was
from Scott Dolph, the PR Manager at Konami, saying that Hideo Kojima
(the creator of the MGS series himself) had seen my MGS LEGO
creations and really liked them, so much that he wanted to send me a
free gift! I actually thought the e-mail was a fraud at first, but I
decided to reply anyway, just in case it was real. I even mentioned
that my brother Ryan had a website at www.mgsonline.net. I gave them
my PO Box address, just to be safe. A few days later I got a phone
call from a nearby airport, saying a package was coming from Japan
but they could not deliver it to a post office. I was shocked!
Apparently it was real! So I gave them my street address and got the
package, which contained four MGS pamphlets. Two of them were for
me, two were for Ryan. We each got a Twin Snakes and Snake Eater
preview envelope. The Twin Snakes ones were autographed by Hideo
Kojima himself. Sure, it was basically just an advertisement, but it
was the first official recognition I have ever gotten for my LEGO
work. Thanks, Konami!

My LEGO versions of Metal
Gear REX and Metal Gear RAY were featured in PSM (the Unofficial
Playstation Magazine) in May 2004. Despite what the magazine may
seem to indicate, they were actually the ones who initially
contacted me, not the other way around. Here's the article:

Another PSM feature! This
time half a page for my LEGO stuff based on Metal Gear Solid 3 was
included in the August 2006 issue. Here's the scan:
