"Doc, you're telling me you
built a TIME MACHINE... out of a DeLorean?"
It's the famous and oh-so-easily-recognizable DMC DeLorean time machine
from the Back to the Future trilogy! Not the best LEGO of it ever made...
but good enough, methinks.

"Well I figured, if you're
going to build a time machine out of a car, why not do it with some
style?"
I actually built this to make a cameo appearance in the background of my
Takeover of Mordark LEGO comic (see the NOVA REFUGE section for the comic)
just for fun. I only wanted it to be easily recognizable, but I ended up
putting a lot more work into it than I had planned.

"Great shot, Doc!" - Marty
(after Doc slams the door into Biff's face)
Some people may fuss at me for using big grey stickers on the top to make
the doors look right. I felt it was necessary, because I wanted to have
the doors open the right way (one of the neatest things about the car).

Since right now this is the
BTTF1 DeLorean, I really should have put the license plate on here that
said "OUTATIME," but instead I just put an orange thing to represent the
futuristic ID plate they get in BTTF2.

"The only thing that can
generate 1.21 gigawatts of electricity is a bolt of lightning!"
"What?"
"A bolt of lightning! Unfortunately we never know when or where it's ever
going to strike!"
"We do now..."
Here is the DeLorean with the lightning rod heading into the Flux
Capacitor. Marty and Doc use this rod to power the car when Marty forgets
to bring extra plutonium.

"That was the day I
invented time travel. I remember it vividly. I was standing on the edge of
my toilet hanging a clock, the porcelain was wet, so I slipped, fell, hit
my head on the sink, and when I came to... I had a vision! A revelation! A
picture in my head! A picture of this... this is what makes time travel
possible... The Flux Capacitor."
And here, my friend, is the Flux Capacitor. Sorry for the otherwise
Spartan interior, but I'm not very good at interior detailing, and
besides, I just built this car to be easily recognizable from the outside,
as I said.

"When this baby hits 88
miles per hour... you're gonna see some serious $#&@."
Sorry for mixing grey with bley (new grey/bluish-grey), but I couldn't
find enough available tiles in the right color, and everything seems to
lose points for being too "studdy."

The side isn't as pretty as
the top, I know.

"Marty, you have to come
back with me!"
"Where, Doc?"
"Back to the Future!"
I know the minifigs are crappy, but I actually never intended to make
them. As I've said three times now, I just built this to make a cameo
appearance in my comic book. I later considered making decals and
everything for the minifigs, but I only got as far as Marty's futuristic
jacket... so Doc is rather sloppy, especially with the Drizzt Do'Urden
hairpiece. Heh.

"Doc, what are you doing?"
"I need fuel."
This is Mr. Fusion! When Doc returns from the future to grab Marty and
Jennifer, he has this replacement for the old plutonium... a little
"blender" that turns trash into power. It actually says on the side "Mr.
Fusion - Home Energy Reactor."

"Doc, we can't go back
here, there's not enough road to get up to 88."
"Roads? Where we're going, we don't need... roads."

Yes, my DeLorean's wheels
can...

transform into hover mode!
Isn't that great? All you have to do to switch their position is...
well... take them off, replace several pieces, and then put them back
together again... heh. I guess I should have called Mr. Wilson III to get
a hover-conversion done.

"D%#@, the skyway's
jammed."
What's the use to have a flying car if you still get stuck in traffic? I
guess that's just part of the comedy.

"Unbelievable... it
actually flew?"
"Yeah, you had a hover-conversion done in the early twenty-first century."

"A DeLorean?
I haven't seen one of those in... thirty years..." - Biff Tannen
Have you noticed they always travel through time in increments of 30
years? 30 years into the past, 30 years into the future, etc.? The only
time it's a different number is when Doc travels back 100 years to the Old
West.
So, according to Back to the Future II, flying cars should be invented by
the year 2015... we've only got ten years to go!

"Maybe we'll bump into each
other again in the future."
"Or the past..."
