These are some of my earliest creations you'll find on this site, dating
from around 2000 or 2001, along with my earliest Star Wars and Mechwarrior
4 creations. These were built sort of in response to the LEGO line called
"Insectoids." I've always been crazy about insects, but when the
Insectoids came out I was rather disappointed. First of all, they were not
spectacular sets. The entire legs of the insects were made of huge single
pieces, with no joints. Secondly, they didn't include a large enough
variety of insects for my tastes. So I did what any LEGO builder would do:
I made my own. I made my vehicles for the use of the humans, designed to
fight the alien Insectoid invasion. These vehicles thus became known as
the Anti-Insectoids...
Now, back when I built these creations, I still enjoyed playing with my
LEGO creations along with my brother and sister, and we had quite a little
history going for our LEGO world. So if you're interested, here is how the
story of the Anti-Insectoids fits into our story:
In the years following the Great Civil War
between the Unitron
Empire and the Explorien Frontier, Earth and its conquered planets were left
open for attack by forces from outside their galaxy. These forces came in
the form of the UFOs. Using advanced technology, not to mention the bizarre
biology of their species, which gave some telekinetic abilities and some the
ability to shape-shift, while others could control electricity or fire, the UFO forces almost wiped out the human race.
Unfortunately for the leader of the UFO forces, Emperor Zegaldorph, their
old enemies, the Insectoids, had followed them. In the great three-sided war
that followed, many Insectoids, Extraterrestrials, and humans died. In the
end, thanks to the heroics of the remaining Exploriens and Unitrons, now in
alliance against the alien threats, the
UFOs were forced to retreat. But, their forces being far less depleted, the Insectoids
remained behind... and began attacking Earth in the place of the
UFOs. In desperation, Rick, leader of the Unitrons, formed an elite corps of
fighters to defend Earth against the Insectoids... the Anti-Insectoids.
In case you can't already tell by the character names, these stories would
later become the basis for Nova Refuge.
