Pilot: Jack West
Capacity: 1 person
Armaments: 1 Energy-Draining Proboscis (Also a powerful charge
laser), 2 Light Rockets, 2 Medium Lasers
Top Speed: 200 mph
Extra Information: The AAV-AI1 Mosquito was the first Anti-Insectoid
vehicle to come into existence. It was designed by its pilot, Jack West,
the only person brave enough to drive the lightly armed and fragile
vehicle. A bounty hunter who ran off with his Explorien love,
Amy Richardson, during the Civil War, Jack is a hotshot pilot who fears nothing.
He is also the leader of the Anti-Insectoids.
Despite its light armaments and armor, the Mosquito is fairly fast, and
strikes fear into the hearts of Insectoids with its creepy-looking
mosquito design. It is not very effective on land, with its spindly
fragile legs. Its most powerful weapon is its proboscis, which can suck
the energy right out of a "stabbed" enemy vehicle's power core.
This energy is then stored in a special power core in the Mosquito's
abdomen, which was designed using stolen Insectoid power cores. The energy
can then either be used to power the vehicle, or fired back out of the
proboscis for an extremely powerful laser beam blast that can blow most
ships to atoms in a single hit. Though Jack is a skilled pilot, he also
included a feature so that the head can detach and fly separately. Though
this leaves him with only two rockets and a now-useless proboscis with
which to fight, it's better than going down with the rest of the ship.

Here you can clearly see the tube running from the head to the power core
in the abdomen through which the stolen energy travels.

The reason that the pilot is always raising his hands is because, um...
there is a holographic control panel hovering before his eyes that only he
can see, um, in his helmet! ... Yeah, that's it...

Another nice shot where you can see the tube. The power core in the back
was designed using stolen Insectoid power cores, but this one holds three
times as much power in almost the same amount of space.

Wings outspread... The Mosquito may be one of the smallest Anti-Insectoid
craft, but its eerie shape and black hull strike fear into all Insectoid scum who
would threaten our planet...

Any ships that get stabbed by the proboscis are fried, but any pilots who
are unfortunate enough to get impaled by it in for a worse fate.

The pain is extreme for the first few minutes, until all the nerves are
dulled by the drawing out of the victim's life force... Still, it is one end all Insectoids fear, perhaps even more
than the crushing claw of the Scorpion.

If the pilot activates the vehicle's overload sequence before he ejects
from the body, the power core will explode in a great burst of energy,
ensuring the complete destruction of any nearby vessels.
